Welcome to Southern Granary, a family-owned wedding venue in Altavista, Virginia, near Lynchburg, Roanoke, Rustburg, and Danville. Set on 30 acres of meadows, trees, and riverfront, our restored grain mill blends industrial character with welcoming charm.
With meadow, patio, and indoor ceremony options and a twinkle-light, fully climate-controlled reception space for up to 200 guests, Southern Granary is an indoor and outdoor wedding venue near Lynchburg designed for comfort in every season. We’ve been hosting weddings and events since 2019.

This building started as a working grain mill in the 1950s, serving local farmers throughout the region.
Over the years, we carefully restored it into what it is today — a historic industrial wedding venue in Altavista, just outside Lynchburg, Virginia.
You’ll still see the original character here: polished concrete floors, vintage steel doors, and wood accents we crafted ourselves. But you’ll also find modern comforts woven in — a terraced patio for gathering, a private Bridal Suite and Groom’s Den, and full air-conditioning throughout the entire space.
It’s industrial history with real comfort built in.
